If You Knew

Some thoughts have been coming to me lately. I have an upcoming hernia surgery. I have had one surgery in my life and that was when I was one year old, I have the belly button scar that says so, but I don’t remember it. So, this newest surgery is because my belly button is poking out a mile and a half and I’m going to have to have mesh put in to fix it. I have never had surgery in my adult life and well I have to say that, frankly, I’m a little scared. The question is, what if I die? Now this may sound a bit simple and overreaching but the question is still there none the less and it got me thinking.

What If?????? What if you knew you were going to die tomorrow? How would that change today? What would you do? Who would you talk to? What really is important? Are you starting to catch my drift here? We go through life like we’re slicing through butter and think nothing of it but if you knew, really knew, and I’m being to the point here, that today was your last day on earth, what would you do? Think about it for a moment.

We take life for granted 99% of the time and then bam we’re dead in an instant or we find that we’ve aged 70 years in the blink of an eye, and I ask, what journey did you take? Are you satisfied? Do you have contentment in your soul? If you knew you were going to die tomorrow just how does that effect your today? Pretty profound thought, I think. It puts today in a different perspective, and I ask well then why don’t we live like this every day that tomorrow is our last day? Why don’t we do those things that are special, crazy, sacred, scary, amazing, life changing? Because we always think there’s a tomorrow. But let me tell you something. Tomorrow never comes, it’s always tomorrow. Read that again. If you knew you were going to die, then I think today you would truly live. People let’s live right in this moment, in this breath and actually live the journey right now instead of putting it off till death do us part. Are you ready?
