To Beach Or Not To Beach

Today I was pondering. Am I a beach person? In my soul I feel that I am but when I look at myself from a physical standpoint, I don’t see a beach person. So, then I ask the question, well, just what is a beach person supposed to look like? David Hasselhoff from Baywatch? Older, in shape, tan. Or something else, because I feel like the Michelin Man. Plump, pale with rolls. I’m not trying to beat myself up, I’m just looking at myself from the outside and wondering if there is a stigma of being a “beach” person? I think to some degree there is and well that is very sad to me that we do that as a people, and I do that as an aware person.

Why do we stereotype? Why do we judge? My two cents on the matter is because I think we grow up being trained how to think or not to think rather. And this has a huge impact on how we treat others and even think of ourselves. I try hard not to judge, and I try hard to not to allow what others may think of me to matter, but I do, and I do. I’m working on it but it’s still a struggle. I hope I can get to a place where it truly doesn’t matter but alas, I am far from that no matter how wise I think I am.

But the one thing I do is that I press on. I have the awareness to know the difference and try to get out of my own way. I try and not let EGO have its place for too long and I try and be just a little bit better every day. Is there something out there about another that you just can’t seem to get through? Is it really relevant to breathing? Is it so important to cause you to judge instead of love? How about loving yourself? Is “feeling” more important than being? Is being less than so important that you become a walking dead? I encourage you to think and meditate on these things so that when you go to the beach it doesn’t matter if you’re on Baywatch or your belly watch. Just be there because your soul yearned to put you there right in that moment and that my friends is just beachy.
