All The Time In The World

There isn’t a day that goes by in my life now that I don’t think about time and life. I suppose that happens when you get older. I know in my youth it really never crossed my mind. I think that is a grave flaw in our young thinking. We think we have all the time in the world, that nothing will touch us and can’t wait for tomorrow or for the weekend at least. Tick tock, tick tock as the days and the years go by faster and faster.

I couldn’t wait to turn 13, then it was 18, then it was 21. It seemed so far away when I was a kid. There seemed to be an urgency to get older and it was something that was looked forward to far off into the future. I remember laying on my childhood floor in the 80’s plotting out how old I would be in the year 2000. It seemed like science fiction and how old and strange being 32 would be. I wish I was 32 now. So many years have passed that kid on the floor, so many years have passed the year 2000 and it just keeps getting faster and faster. You see we don’t have all the time in the world. We have a very short lifetime. What we do as a child and as a young adult has huge implications to how our adulthood plays out. It’s a plethora of roads that our lives can take.

I encourage our youth to be more mindful of time and what they are doing or not doing today that will impact tomorrow. I encourage our middle-agers to be diligent with their passions and to know thyself. I encourage all that have eyes open and are breathing to not be lost in nothingness until there really is nothing left. Live now, live today and don’t think there is another year to wait till it’s the year 2000 somewhere in the future. All you have is today, right now and that moment is the most precious you have. All the time in the world will end as it does for us all so make the most of what the world and time offers you. Let’s get the real journey started.
