Plastic Life

Living in the modern age we all know about plastic. Plastic has changed the world as we know it for the good and the bad. Think about all the plastic for a minute. But that’s not what I’m really shooting for here. I just want to create an image in your head and then I want to really show you a different picture.

We take so much for granted. Even as I sit here and type this message, I am utilizing plastic. Plastic is everywhere around us and we use it in so many different ways and we don’t think anything about it. But there is a downside. What it takes to make plastic and what it takes to dispose of plastic. But again, I’m kind of tricking you because I’m not really talking about objects in our lives. What I really want to talk about is people, yes people.

You see without people we wouldn’t have plastic. But does that mean people have to be plastic? I watch the world around me being consumed by consumerism. I watch people give so much of their lives just to be. Be what? Well in a sense, be plastic. We have bought into a world of gotta haves, the next big gimmick, just like the Jones’s next door. But at what cost? I see people losing themselves into the bondage of a world they create. Everyone so busy trying to look good, feel good, present an image to the world that everything is great, fine, and dandy. Well, it’s not. People have become plastic. From what they eat, where the live, what they drive, what they wear and even what they think and believe. I look around and all I see are the plastic sheens of images of people thinking they are truly living.

Can people live without their phones, computers, cars? Can people be real instead of hiding behind plastic faces? Can people exist without multimedia telling them what life is? Can we hug, shake hands, communicate with true emotion and not have to go to a counselor for a hangnail? I don’t see it. What I do see is a world reliant upon plastic existence in order to be something they really weren’t created to be. If you open your eyes the form and shape of people will transform, and you will see. If you open your soul the natural and spiritual world will open, and you will also see. I personally like the alive dimensional colorful world but I’m telling you that the fake, flat, glossy plastic one is taking over, and people are losing themselves. Come on people, open your eyes, awaken your soul. You can create a life full of richness, fullness, amazing journey’s if you’re brave enough to see through film of the plastic coating. The journey always awaits.
