Trapped

You read that word and think that this is some mystery suspense novel but it’s not. Maybe it’s some 10 o’clock news story, but it’s not. What it is, is a story about life. It isn’t fantasy, it’s not made up and it’s definitely not someone’s else’s issue. Each and every one of us in our own unique way are trapped. We are trapped by our jobs, we are trapped by family, we are trapped by our place in society, we are trapped by anything outside of ourselves that has control over us. And we are trapped even in our own mind and body.

We allow so many things to hold us in bondage. Just think for a moment and reflect on your life. Do you feel trapped because you have to work and make money to pay the bills? You have to have a place to live, something to eat and that costs money. But is your work sucking the life out of you? Are the foods you eat enriching you? Are you trapped in beliefs like the Jones and just continue to do what everybody else does. I want to work, so to speak, in a job where I look forward to it every day. Where I make a difference and not just punch a time clock. I want to be a free thinker and not be limited to that this is the way it’s always been, this is how we do things. I dare you to step out of that box and into a world of possibility.

We become trapped in so many different cages that we don’t even realize we’re trapped. Work, politics, religion, family all have a huge impact on what we think and how we believe. Multimedia is another major impact on people’s lives. Gotta be in shape, gotta have this next gadget, gotta listen to this type of music, gotta look this way, gotta act that way, gotta, gotta, gotta. Stop!

The only thing you have to do is breathe and to be you. Just you. The door to the cage is open, it’s always been open. There is absolutely no one or no thing stopping you from doing and being whatever, you desire. You just have to find YOU amidst all the booby traps and mazes of this thing called life. If you’re truly able to do that then the process of being trapped and caged will meta-morph into an adventurous journey of freedom and exploration. All you have to do is take a step and start. Take my hand, I’ll walk with you.
