Which Way Is Up

I’m a scuba diver and this statement can be pretty important for your life. Which way is up in scuba, is simply follow the bubbles they always go up. But here’s the issue with that. If your discombobulated under the water then you don’t have the mind set to even pay attention to the bubbles and that’s when bad things can happen. I think even us air breathers on land have a difficult time knowing which way is up. Our heads are so busy dealing with stuff in today’s go go world that they constantly swirl. People are overworked and quite often by choice. Money makes the world go round. Most have debt and that debt keeps us in bondage to work.

We have a house, we have things to clean, fix, repair, remodel, paint, and pay for. We have cars, plural, and big payments. We have kids and lordy don’t they take time and money. So yes, I believe people get lost in the world and don’t know which way is up sometimes. I hear so many of you talking about how stressed you are. Some are having mental breakdowns, some having issues due to lack of sleep and most so stressed out with today’s way of life that there is a disconnect within their own person often times. People we are in trouble and aren’t following the bubbles. We must breathe, calm ourselves and refocus or we will die. This is what can happen under the water if you’re not careful and aware scuba diving. And this is what can happen in life if we don’t slow down, take rest, breathe and stay focused. We forget which way is up.

Once a person is so out of it, that they are lost, the effort to get back is monumentous but it can be done. Once we lose our direction, we don’t know which way to go and more often than not we don’t go in any direction. We just float in the emptiness of space being ineffective and sometimes even part of the problem. When a lifeline comes to help us, we are ill equipped and prepared how to use it and create even more of a situation. Stop. Which way is up? Follow the bubbles. Breathe. Break the surface and dog paddle like your life depended on it. You can swim I promise.

It really is a choice and what you choose even on a daily basis has ripples that reach farther than you can imagine or dream. Which way is up is just a metaphor for finding yourself and then taking action to truly do something about it. Fear is the big liar and losing your way doesn’t have to be a walking death sentence. Trust in the universe that it knows the path you need to be on. It may take a moment to come up from the depths, or out of the deep dark woods, but I can assure you that even the smallest breath of air or hint of light is enough to ignite a living fire in you to go not just up but anywhere you want to go. See ya out there peeps.
