I saw a post the other day that asked the question, would you take 10 million dollars right now or would you rather go back in the past and fix all your mistakes. That fascinated me. My first thought was the money, then I thought, no, if I could go back and fix all my mistakes then I probably would be able to get 10 million dollars. I want a do over. But does a do over enable me to really make a change or a difference? It would if I had the memory of such. Going back in the past would be amazing but only if one could retain what they already know, otherwise I think you’ll just make the same mistakes, don’t Ya think?
The past, present and future are an interesting thought process. Some say that they all exist at the same time just in different dimensions. That’s really hard for my brain to get around. Einstein believed time travel was mathematically possible and Hawking proved also mathematically that a black hole can in a way time travel us as well but only into the future not the past. So, the concept of a do over isn’t something we can do by going back and seemingly fixing all the wrongs or buying apple stock when it first came out. We aren’t allowed this in our current state of flux on this world. So, if we can’t go back and fix it but we still want a do over then what do we do? Take the money… Money doesn’t fix past issues unless you’re a politician or maybe a really rich entertainer.
But what we can do is in this very moment, only in this moment, choose to a do over. We don’t have to take that drink, do over. We don’t have to use those drugs, do over. We don’t have to stay in that career, do over. In this moment we have a choice to make a change. We can’t do it tomorrow because tomorrow never comes, it’s always tomorrow. We can’t go back in the past but what we can do is right now. Right now, I want a do over and I’m going to go a different direction, take a new path, make a new choice, and I’m doing a do over because I don’t want the same status quo, the same going through the motions, the same old, same old, same old. I choose a do over right now because I’m going to do something new. It may be scary, it may rattle a few people, I may fail, and I may succeed but at least I’m doing. I’m choosing a do over and my life will be different, and I implore you that if you need a do over as well then by all means do it. We only have right now, the past is gone, and future is still to be seen. Are you ready?
