A day comes and a day goes but we don’t pay any mind to it. We fill our days with so much stuff that we don’t even realize. We work, we eat, we watch t.v., we shop, we fill up time with useless things so much of that time. I read a book called the Tao of Pooh and it talked about being in the woods without all our time saving devices. How if we got rid of the things that keep us on the clock so to speak, then magically we have more time than we realize. Time slows down. We notice things more. The sun is brighter and comforting, the flowers are more brilliant and aromatic, the birds’ serenades are abundant and vibrant. When time slows down, we slow down to take the time.
We wake up one day and we find that we’re old and time has passed us by. Did we forget to live in the day? If only I had just one more day. One more day to rest, one more day to play, one more day to sing and dance, one more day to live. Why do we let so many days go by without notice? Why do we let life escape us? We work, we pay the bills, we go to and fro seeking “something” to fulfill our time, to fill a void because we forgot how to live when we are just surviving. Just one more day and I’ll get through. But that’s not really the day I desire. I want a day of simplicity. I want a day of love and laughter. I want a day of passion and true joy. That day exists.
With all the business around us you really have to stop and focus. You have to slow down. But it’s oh so hard. There are so many things pulling on us in this direction and that. If I only had just one more day, we tell ourselves. But this goes on day after day, week after week, month after month and then years have gone by. And we wake up old and wish we had just one more day. But the madness doesn’t stop until we stop it. So, I implore you and myself to take today, just today, and start with that. Make this day the best it can be. It is hard, it takes practice, but I assure you it’s worth the fight. You don’t want to be in the position of saying just one more day when it’s too late. Make today that day and then tomorrow will take care of itself. I want just one more day to be this day. I want to be thankful and blessed that I get just one more day to live, to love and share this amazing journey. Thank you for coming along and being a part of this wonderous day that is today. Just one more day is the day you make it.
