Here I sit in my home. Surrounded by wood, siding, insulation, dry wall and paint. I have windows to see outside and a couple of doors too. Sounds like a typical house in suburbia. But even with all this house around me it’s really just a house of glass and can crash and disintegrate at any moment. We put on a persona that everything is just great and grand but few know what the house is really made of. This is where life really happens. We all put on a face at work and in public but when we get home, the bra, the shoes, the fake demeanor all come off. We feel safe. But it’s all a facade because in what we think is a protected and safe home is just another link in the chain of bondage and false sense of being.
We have bills, so many bills, we are a nation of bills, a nation of credit. Buy now pay later. Oh, we will pay later, they guarantee it. And at an exorbitant cost. One slip and everything comes crashing down. We can lose everything in a blink of an eye. And this house that we thought was so safe suddenly is taken out from under us. A glass house is a fragile thing. We keep it spit shined up, can’t have any streaks, on the outside anyways. We keep the lights on inside and think that as long as there is light then everything is gonna be just fine. Fragile I say, very, very fragile. We should be wiser and more cautious. We should understand that what we think is solid can also evaporate and we shouldn’t take it for granted.
I see too many people living in glass houses, not even realizing they are, thinking life couldn’t be more merrier. But that doesn’t change the idiom that their house of bricks and mortar is really just glass and glue, held together by false beliefs, wishful thinking and unfulfilled potential. Wake up people, we are lying to ourselves. Life is more than your house, more than your car, more than your job. Life is meant to be lived in passion and truth of your soul. Life is meant to be explored not exploited. Get out of your glass house, your ivory tower and build yourself on the foundation that can never be destroyed, your spirit. Don’t be fooled by the what is, but live in the what is now. Create the person you were designed to be and don’t be afraid to let go of what really doesn’t matter. Come out of your glass house and join me so we can truly experience the trail of adventure and what it actually means to be alive.
