Its A Sham

Yes, I said that right, it’s a sham, not a shame. According to Wikipedia a Sham is a thing that is not what it is purported to be. Or falsely present something as the truth. I don’t feel that trying to get by in life is a shame, I think it is a sham. We are spoon fed from an early age how life is supposed to be. Now of course that also depends on where you live, as in topography and such and many other factors, but all in all it’s still a sham. We grow up brainwashed to religion, politics, social beliefs so on and so forth. We grow up thinking life lasts forever because between 16 and 30 we know everything, right? We’re invincible and of course a genius as well. It’s all a sham. All that you think, all that you do, all that you hold so dear and true will end. There is no escape. So, what’s the point?

My point is, to not let the sham of living become the death of yourself. Life is so much more than what religion you are, what politician you support, who much money you make, what you stand for and believe in. It’s more than dying for Jihad or the good Ol US of A. It’s more than your children and what school they go to or what award they get that makes you look like parent of the year. I could go on and on and it could go right over your head because as status quo goes that’s life. But why? Why do we just do and act like everyone else around us? Why do we buy into the sham of what life is supposed to be and not live a life that we dream about? We let so many years pass us by and then it’s too late. I wish I could a, would a, should a. We grow up with a Leave it to Beaver mentality. We believe in the U.S. that we are supposed to have 2.5 kids, a white picket fence and a Volvo in the garage. The all-American dream. Sham. Ugh, it makes my soul cringe that we believe and walk so blindly. But most people don’t even see it. I was confused by it all myself. Even though I knew different I still got caught up in the rat race.

I feel duped now that I’m in my mid 50’s. I feel like if someone had educated me in the depth of my soul when I was little, I wouldn’t have missed out on so much. I wouldn’t have taken the long way around with so many obstacles. When I was younger, I read a book call Jonathan Livingston Seagull about a seagull that doesn’t want to live out life like every other seagull. He wants to fly faster and higher because he chooses to while all the other seagulls tell him just to be a seagull. The sham of a seagull life. Isn’t that the same sham we live in the human life? This is the way it is because the masses say so. Politics tell us what is their truth, religion tells us what is their truth, your neighbor tells you what is their truth all based on what? Think about it. We live out life being told what life is and it’s all a sham. Stop living the sham and be an individual. Stop living the sham and live your own choices. Stand up and dare to be out of the box, dare to go against the grain. You are an individual not an ant. You make your own choices you’re not part of the collective. Is your life a sham? Do you even know it? Take a look and let’s see where you can go. See you on the journey.
