As hard as it may seem I am like most people to a degree. I know I know I talk a lot about being aware and that’s just it, being aware also lets me know I’m human. I struggle with my own issues, and I struggle with life’s issues I guess you can say. I struggle with aging, with weight gain, with being healthy, with procrastination. I struggle with politics and religion, ignorance and just plain stupidity. I know I’m not perfect, but I also know when things are just not right. Too many people believe their shit doesn’t stink. I look at history and well, it’s a human issue.
I don’t know, maybe it’s the wrong word but it’s the word that comes to mind. People feel entitled. What do I mean by that? Like I said, just look at history. Tell me, why do people have to “rule” over others? Call it what you will but it is to a great degree having power over others. Look at Ceasar, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Hitler, Mao Zedong, Ramesses and all the pharaohs, and all the kings and queens of old. The list goes on and on and is still going on today. And you know who suffers from this entitlement? The people. The entitled always feel entitled and will always look down upon those who are not. When does power create humbleness? Hardly never. Sad isn’t it. When will someone who is entitled know and understand what life is like to the majority? Even those that were once less than but became rich and powerful are bewitched by entitlement. As a species we have a pretty big ego that is not matched by any other species on this planet. I’ve said this before, we are so smart, we are dumb.
I look around, I watch every day, I see it and if you don’t you either don’t care or are just blind. Both of those, not caring or blind, they make up a huge portion of society. Oh, you think I’m wrong? Then research your history of the human condition. There have always been the few in power and many, many slaves underneath. It’s not a 300-year-old American issue. Did you hear me? Hom sapiens have been slaves from every race, everywhere in every time period. Are you blind, or ignorant or just don’t care? I’m not even talking about slavery. I’m talking about those that feel they are entitled above another. It could be in any form, and it is used so rampantly that we don’t even realize it most of the time. We just accept that this is the way life is. Well not in my book.
But I’m struggling with this issue and just what to do with it. How do I reach people to let them know that they have a life, their life, and not to go through life as a walking dead. How do I share with people to become aware and to make change in themselves and therefor making change in the world. Some have found their way. Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Confucius, Gyalwa Rinpoche (the 14th Dali Lama), Martin Luther King as some of the big names we all know. But there are so many others that have found their way and go nameless and yet still plant a seed in all the others around them. Because when one is living their TRUE calling of their soul there is no doubt in the energy of their life, and they affect the world around them. If there was a good sense of entitlement, that would be it. One is entitled to live their passions in order that their life is fulfilled, and they bless those around them.
But sadly, entitlement is most often not used in that manner. But it’s used to have control, a warped sense of exaltation and selfishness. I don’t know why human beings being so smart can’t seem to not abuse this in life. But it sure makes the struggle against it all so very difficult. If we are all the same human beings, why is there entitlement? If we are all the same human beings, why do we hurt each other? What is wrong with our species? I’m at a loss as to why throughout history and still to this day we just can’t seem to figure life out. The experiment has gone wrong. Are you entitled to your opinion and belief? Absolutely. Until that tries to rule mine. Let’s talk about the struggle, seriously, and see if we can come up with a better way of being that actually gives life instead of takes. What a concept.
