Watch Out Time Will Get You

I recently shared a post on Facebook that I did ten years ago, and the comments were all the same. “Ten years? Where did ten years go? Dang that went fast!” Yes, it does. We spend our childhood just daydreaming and playing. We spend our teenage years thinking we know everything and that nothing will ever touch us, like age. And then suddenly we’re thirty, and forty and quickly fifty. Yep, that fast. Time seems to go faster and faster the older we get. As I am now in my fifties time has slipped by the past twenty years in a blur. Yeah, a lot has happened, but it feels like a blink of an eye and then I was eligible for an AARP card.

We all thought we had time. And all the youngsters STILL think they have time. Well, I’m here to tell you, you don’t. There is no guarantee of time and the older you get the more precious you will understand this. When we’re young we think we have all the time in the world. Only a few actually save and invest for their “golden years”. Most just get a job, get a relationship, get children and a house and get debt and then get old. All before you know it. We get so distracted in living that damn normal life that we forget to actually live and then when we realize it, so much time and youth has passed. Time will always get you one way or another.

No one wants to think about not having a tomorrow, but it can, and it does happen, all the time. Most just go with the flow doing this, doing that and then ooopsie I’m turning fifty-five, where did all the time go. The last twenty years have flown by in a flash. God, I wish I was wiser when I was thirty. I’m still young enough for some things and thankfully I have twenty plus years of wisdom but let me tell you being fifty-five is not the same as twenty-five. And my understanding of possibly not having a tomorrow is even more real. Time got me and I’m running late.

So, I’m sending this out to you all in the hopes that time does not steal away your years. That you wake up being fifty or sixty and say I wish I would have. Do it now, right now, live. Save money, take those trips, live your passions however crazy they may seem. People you have one shot at this thing called life and I’m here to tell you that every single year, every single day, is a gift. Grab hold, vigorously open that gift up and use it now, right now. Don’t be afraid to be different, don’t be afraid to not be normal and not do normal things. Don’t waste this precious gift you are given. Don’t let time get you. The journey of a lifetime awaits you, it’s your decision.
