Probably most have seen quicksand on tv or the movies, the star falling in and desperately trying to escape before sinking and being gobbled up by the depths of claustrophobia and suffocation. You may have seen it, but I don’t believe most people have ever experienced real quicksand. What a scary notion. Slowly sinking inch by inch with every movement. Up to your waste, up to your chest, up to your neck, squeezing you more and more. Nobody comes to your call for help and anything to save you is out of your reach. Yeah, very scary. But don’t you get it? We are in quicksand every single day. We have fallen into the pit of life, and we’ve allowed it to slowly consume us. Oh, it’s apparent if you step into something physical right? Yeah, until it’s too late. Then your truly stuck, then you truly can’t get out. I’m telling you people, that’s where we are, that’s where I am for sure.
We go through life like walking through the forest, la te da. We pay no mind to the true dangers that can be out there. Oh, we watch for bear, or snakes, but especially when we’re young we think that nothing can touch us. And then the next step is, “flump”, and your foot has sunk in the muck up to your knee. Sometimes even both legs have gone in and your already engulfed by quicksand up to your hips. You strain and struggle, but you just cause yourself to sink deeper. Do you not see the comparability of your daily living situation? Lost is the teaching from our tribes to warn us of such dangers. Lost is the wisdom of our elders. We know best for ourselves; we don’t need sound guidance. “Flump”. And then it’s too late, we’re stuck. The resemblance of falling into quicksand and living life can paint a vivid picture if your able to see it.
So many of us are stuck. We made the wrong choices, went down the wrong path. We have been mired in muck for so long we have forgotten what it feels like to be free. We just allow the quicksand to engulf us, and we slowly sink to our demise. What I’m trying to share here is, be aware, be wise. Do everything you can to know your direction, to know your path. Don’t just walk aimlessly about your life and your future or you may end up being swallowed and nobody will even know you were there. Life can be a huge struggle if we are not prepared. We get stuck and bogged down in it, sometimes fighting just to get a breath of fresh air. We get lost in the forest and then step into quicksand and there we remain. I encourage you to set the map before you, seek out where you truly want your journey to go, get the necessary tools and go forth. We are meant to traverse this life on a magnificent journey, not be stuck by all the pitfalls and traps that hold us in bondage. If you’re on that journey, I implore you to help others. If you’re stuck in quicksand, hopefully you can see the rope so you can pull yourself out and start anew. Here, catch.
