In A Blink

How long does a blink last? A tenth of a second that’s how long. That means 10 times in a second. Can you even fathom that? Well, that’s how fast I see our life going. In a blink. We start off oblivious to the chaos around us. We just play and go about our day with no care in the world. We’re fed and taken care of, and we have no real understanding of just what life is. Then we become a little older and we start to figure out how things work. If you touch a hot stove, you might just get burned. Be good to your parents and you might just get rewarded. That kind of thing. Then we hit teenager years, and our brains go on psycho mode. Everything is soooooo dramatic. Like OHHHMYYYGOD!!

But I think, this is when things really start to change. We may become smarter, but we also become dumber. We become consumed by bright lights and too many hormones. We rage to fit in, we rage to be different. Going down rabbit hole after rabbit hole till we find ourselves in our young adult life sometimes wondering just how did I get here. Blink of an eye. Most people follow the same Ol path, get married, have children. Some even go to college and sometimes but not statistical speaking, work in their degree field. It’s what we do right? We work, we have a car payment, a mortgage. And that’s life. We think nothing of it because that’s the way it is. And yet I believe that in many people there is a yearning, a deep calling, to understand, to know, that there is more. More to life than just going through the same Ol motions. We may be living but I don’t think that for much of the population, we are truly alive.

We lived such care FREE lives as a child, then we grew up and forgot how to live. Time passed by in a blink and then we’re into our “golden years”. Let me tell you, it’s not golden, it’s rust. Aging sucks!!! There is no good patina on the aging body. We run out of energy, our body aches, our eyes and hearing go to pot, and we finally realize there isn’t much time left. But the end comes ever so quickly and let me ask you, what’s left? In a blink life has gone by. Have you lived the life you wanted, have you lived your dreams and pursued all your passions? Or do you now live in some regret? We don’t have forever. Life passes us by in a tenth of a second and then it’s done, it’s over. Please people, figure it out. Don’t be lost in things that don’t matter like, ego, prestige, keeping up with the Jones, on and on. Be lost in the majesty of getting the opportunity to live for a few short years on this beautiful planet. Life is short and it will pass you and all of us by in a blink. I implore you to make the most out of this life for your souls’ sake. That, you won’t regret. That, is what changes your own self-awareness and then changes the world.
