Color Blindness

There’s a lot of life going on in the world. From space we live on a predominantly blue and green planet. And on the surface of this planet, we live with every color of the rainbow and more. We live in vibrance and in incredible natural beauty. So why are we color blind? Why do we miss so much around us and only see black and white or just plain grey? I’m not talking about the pigment of skin, although that is another topic of discussion, what I’m referring to here is, that with all the magnificent colors of the world, why don’t we see them? I think to a large extent people go through life very dull and washed out. As a child, the world takes on such wonder and awe. We look at the world with huge eyes and question all that’s around us. Then we grow up and to an extent we live to just die. We become consumed with the mundane and not the majesty. We live life in a box and forget what the outside world really is. That’s why I love the picture of earth from space. To me, that picture, gives me harmony to my soul. To know and understand what a precious planet we live on. That our lives mean more than just 9 to 5 and paying bills.

When we see the rainbow, I hope you realize that your physical eyes miss so much of what they see. The colors of the spectrum visible is not the full palette that exists. I believe we get so fogged in with things around us that the image of color is tainted. We are caught up in paying for the mortgage, car payment, bills and just getting by, that we lose ourselves. But I still believe that the spirit can see the colors though if we can become truly aware of what we’re looking at. Rainbows can have that effect on people. It takes a true walking dead to not see a rainbow in the sky and be drawn to it. A rainbow can and I believe is a bridge to see the world with different eyes, a different understanding. The 7 colors of the rainbow that we can see can lead us to a myriad of colors to help us understand this world and each other. It can help us find balance and harmony.

I think there is too much black and white thinking. Where things have to be in a box and in order. The universe doesn’t really work like that though. The universe is in constant movement, changing, evolving, just as this planet is. I think there is too much grey thinking where we become dull and almost non-existent. There is life there but just enough to be ashen and get by breath to breath, not enough to shine and cause growth and life in yourself and others. But was causes the rainbow to shine is just that. Light of a life-giving source shining through a particle to create color. And that color can be seen by all who choose to see it. Rainbows are what this planet is a metaphor of. We as a people are a metaphor of what life should look like. Color. And that color can open doors to dreams and possibilities that free the soul to all that the universe wants to share. One last thing. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is real. An awareness that is priceless. It can open your mind to the wonder of what life should be. Would you like to go treasure hunt?
