How many of y’all remember your algebra? Well, this is the lesson for the day kids. A negative plus a negative equal a positive, right? That’s the math rule anyways. When I was growing up and going through school my stepmom, who had a Masters in math, was my tutor. I still got c’s in math. It wasn’t that I didn’t understand it, it’s that I rebelled against it. Math has a lot to do with logic, so thus me rebelling in math, does that mean I’m not logical? I think I’m logical but maybe that’s just my ego talking. I rebelled saying that math was stupid and who needs this kind of problem in the real world. Algebra, calculous, trigonometry to me seemed so unnecessary, that I would spout out, what’s the point. Formulas, rules, equations spinning in my head when being able to count my allowance was what was important to me, not A plus B equals C. How much did that football cost, how much would I have left, what else could I spend it on, that’s what I was thinking. But let me be perfectly honest. I was ignorant. As I’ve gotten older, I now realize the importance of all that math and it’s way bigger than just a problem on a piece of paper to work out.
Math is more than just logic. Math is about problem solving. Math is about almost everything in the universe. Pow, my mind was blown. How did I miss this as a kid? Because kids are not equipped for that understanding for the most part. We haven’t had years to hone our wisdom, our understanding, having gone through life’s “problems” and figured out solutions yet. We haven’t learned because growing and aging is all part of the process. We don’t learn to crawl before we walk, we don’t walk until we get our balance, we don’t balance until we start growing, gaining strength and coordination. Well, that’s what aging is. It’s a process of growth and understanding. Now I understand how important that Algebra equation really is. I understand what the deeper meaning of the problem is conveying. I may not like doing the math, but I now know that it’s not just about the math. It’s about everything.
When you take a problem that you don’t like and you add the action that you don’t like, then the solution is still the same, a positive. Why is that? Because it’s process and understanding. It’s action and reaction. It’s movement and it’s cause. We must have this in our lives to be whole, to be complete. It isn’t the equation that’s important, it isn’t the answer that’s important, it’s all of it together. This is what gets us past our simple form of thinking and into our higher self. Rules applied gives us the gate keys to the universe. So being young isn’t a bad thing, it’s just a time for us to be prepared for what’s to come. Having a negative in our lives most often than not leads to something positive, that’s just the way it works. I wish I would have learned this lesson earlier on but there is a time for everything. And everything is for a reason, a season or a lifetime. A negative plus a negative always equals a positive and though it may not make sense, applying this equation to our lives will always be in the betterment of our soul and those around us. Now, should we do a little math? Your freedom is the answer.
