It’s easy in a hip response to say, “but hey caterpillars are butterflies”. But they are not. And not all caterpillars turn into butterflies. Some caterpillars are destined to become moths and that’s a whole other topic. Some caterpillars don’t get enough food and therefore never have the chance to become a butterfly. But the whole process of going from a caterpillar to a butterfly is about total transformation. A caterpillar actually eats itself in the cocoon so it can metamorphous into the new being of its creation. I wish people could physically do this but atlas we are stuck in the human form of a body. But nevertheless, change can still occur and even to some extent manifest that outwardly as well. We do change in our minds and bodies as we grow from infant stage to adult hood. There are so many factors that contribute to this change. It’s cultural, it’s environmental, it’s educational, it’s biographical. It’s taught and learned. But in all those aspects there is one thing that is constant. No matter where we live or how we live we are still a human being. And being a human being we have the ability to be aware.
So why is it so difficult for a butterfly person to talk to a caterpillar person and really vice versa? Because a caterpillar person does not understand that he/she has the opportunity to fly. A caterpillar person is focused on eating and eating and eating and not really understanding why. And then something clicks at a point of growth in itself, of awareness, that a caterpillar realizes and understands that something is different. And they spin their cocoon, eat their old self and transform into something new. Something usually vibrant and beautiful, something that can flap its wings and ride on the air currents to any destination and understanding. People have a really, really hard time with this. We get stuck in just being a caterpillar and eating and eating, consuming everything we can with little or no regard to anyone around us or what our bigger purpose might be. We don’t speak the same language because we are separate beings.
I think a lot of people get stuck being a caterpillar and that’s ok. For whatever reason which is beyond my comprehension they don’t want to metamorphous, they don’t want to fly. I say all of this in an out of the box understanding because, a caterpillar, just does what it does naturally. We as humans with our huge consciousness always have a choice. We may limit those choices, but I believe that is really self-induced. No matter the situation in life, there is always a choice to be aware and not just live in ignorance. I say ignorance because there is every opportunity for a person to fly if they can only get out of thinking like a caterpillar. It’s a choice. To be aware or not to be aware, that is the question, that each and every one of us must ask and answer in some form or another. And even not answering is an answer. So, it is difficult to talk butterfly to a caterpillar person. So many of us are stubborn, bullish, unwilling, brainwashed and in bondage to a way of life and will never be able to hear or experience a different way of life. This is all just a simple analogy from a simple organism to a magnificent organism that there is more to life than just going through the motions because that’s the way it is. Be aware, be alive, be meta morphed into a new being. Dare to change, to grow wings and to fly. Live the journey. See ya on the wind.
