Rainbows full of the light spectrum of color, glistening moisture reflecting the sun’s rays to brighten the landscape from the ground to the sky. We look at rainbows with awe and wonder. We are mesmerized by its color, vibrancy and fanciful thoughts of finding the pot of gold at its end. We see rainbows in many different arenas, but mostly after a storm has passed. We understand that through the darkness, life will shine bright once again. Blackholes on the other hand, we understand the darkness is so telling, so thick, so unrelenting that light does not escape. We stare into an abyss of utter and complete blackness. Two seemingly polar opposites of each other. I think we live our lives out somewhere in the middle of these two thought processes. I keep having hope that people as a whole live life full of color, of beauty, of hope and with an understanding of the life around them. But I must confess that I see much darkness in the world, a darkness that consumes people and swallows all light around them. Are there really souls in this world that are this dark? Sadly, I believe this is so. We may look to space and understand that blackholes are so incredibly far away that we have nothing to worry about. But I assure you they are closer than one might think, be very careful lest you find yourself being sucked in by never escaping pull.
Could blackholes be portals? Portals to what though? Who’s brave enough to go in and find out? Can going to the darkness, and through the darkness bring a new light of discovery? It seems impossible, but yet all things seemed impossible until they were done. But as for now, what we know is, Rainbows bring a newness, a refreshness and in that moment of existence, brighten the soul of the onlooker. Whereas blackholes sit in the vastness of cold, dark space pulling everything around it into its prison of no escape. Have you ever been in a cave, deep into the cave where there is an absolution of light. Turn off the flashlight and it is a darkness beyond darkness. We are not accustomed to this type of darkness. We are creatures of light and even at the precipice of night there is still light. We have streetlights, houselights, car lights, and lights from the city that can glow across great expanses. We have the moon and the stars that even on the darkest of night shine their way through space to enlighten the world. My interpretation is, to be without light, is to be without soul. There are some in this world that cling to this darkness and try and consume all the light around them. We must stand fast against this, we must light our matches, our torches, our fires to bring light to the darkness for the smallest of light will cast away the dark. And we must dance in the rain or right after the storm so that we may experience all the essence and brilliance of color that makes up a rainbow.
Rainbows and blackholes is the daily life we live from moment to moment. We have our joys, our triumphs, and we have our darkest moments that swallow us up from time to time, all wrapped up in this thing called life. We press on not worrying about the storm but rejoicing in the rainbow. We press on knowing that the black hole is inescapable but not knowing what is on the other side. Our spirits are beyond the confines of this world. And we journey through the balance of it all to and fro. As much as I love rainbows and the magic they create, I am also acutely aware that a black hole is all just part of the process and that there is a season for everything. I don’t put all my emphasis on rainbows, nor do I give much thought to blackholes. It’s not good nor necessary to live in a land of feel goods all the time and it’s not wise to entertain not being able to escape the darkness. But to deny both is to deny self. We must live in balance. Balance is the key to harmony and harmony is the key to complete freedom. We need both rainbows and blackholes for the universe to be in balance but it’s wisdom with what to do with both that gives us the awareness we need to experience the journey. One may never know where they will end up.
