A Boy and His Dog

This has been on my heart for some time to write. It’s a message to my son. I only have the one child, and I am forever grateful for him. He is a total blessing in my life. That being said, my boy has had a few pets in his life but never his own until that one day, long ago, that he did come into connection with his own. And that sweet lil dog Greyson, has been a blessing to my boy way beyond what words can express. A boy and his dog is an age-old story. Passed from generation to generation but never known until it’s actually known. This boy and this dog know the story and one can tell they know it inside and out. There is a deep-rooted connection with humans to some animals but there seems to be an extra special bond with humans and dogs. Just a boy and his dog can exemplify that bond to the highest levels of love and dedication. I sit in amazement with the relationship that this boy and his dog can have. A relationship that knows trust, accountability, commitment, and un unwavering loyalty. To see these two together is without a doubt a connection to all that is good in the universe. The love they show to the world is totally undeniable and the bond to each other is absolutely precious. There is nothing like it in the world. A boy and his dog.

A boy and his dog can cross continents, move mountains, and inspire connections that are rarely seen in this troubled world. If only for a moment the world could see and have that type of connection, it may change the world. I see my boy interact with Greyson and it tears me up and makes me giggle all in the same moment. Their connection is beyond words, beyond just a human and another canine. Their connection has been perfected over thousands and thousands of years all cumulating in this sacred, trusting, loving bond of a boy and his dog. That dog, I need to clarify, isn’t just any dog, but his dog, his confidant, his buddy, his best friend. And that dog loves that boy more than any toy or any treat. There is no mistaking it.

I wish all the world could see how sweet and true Josh is to Greyson and Greyson is to Josh. If the world could take note, it sure would make the humans more intune with life around them. But at least we have these two, these two blessing our small part of the world, and we do take note kid, we see. There is nothing more precious than the bond you have with your pal. It comes for such a short time, but it will affect the entirety of your life. A dog’s life unfortunately isn’t made for the length of our own lives. But for the time we get to share with them is a time like no other. Hold dear and fast to this beloved friend son, there is nothing like it in the world. Greyson, take care of this boy while you have him and chase balls and frisbees all the days you can. I thank you for this time and this special bond that only a boy and his dog can share. Just a boy and his dog, nothing simpler or more beautiful and precious than that.
